WHY STORIES?  OTs are resilient and resourceful.  We are also excellent story tellers and learn many valuable lessons in this way.

WHY MEMES? Memes "bring a humorous atmosphere to otherwise serious situations and can help raise awareness for something. Memes can give society a new culture to experience, or a new way to experience culture. From funny or sarcastic memes to serious memes, they be used to give different perspectives on subjects that are not easily grasped at first glance. Memes help connect people through humor and shared point of views". (http://clypian.southsaxons.com/wordpress/impact-of-memes-on-todays-culture/)

Memes help us share painful experiences in a manner that aligns with OTs' core values of resiliency,  growth, mutual support and problem solving.

This page has examples of the Memes generated by participants at the Violence in the OT Workplace workshop facilitated by the artist Zoé Fortier  at the University of Alberta Sept 2017

We would like to build a repository of positive stories and Memes from OTs about how they tackled violence in their own workplaces.

You can generate Memes using various smartphone apps and websites (eg https://imgflip.com/memegenerator).

If you would like to share a story or a Meme on this page please contact Cary Brown

All stories will be edited for anonymity and length.
